N.B.A. comes to KJHS

Kennedale Junior High School announced a new program last year to recognize and reward students for perfect attendance. The program is the N.B.A. (Never Been Absent) All-Star Program.{{more:Read more …}}
 
Each Six Weeks, students who have perfect attendance will be entered into drawing for prizes. Also, students who have perfect attendance for the year will be honored at the KJHS Awards Ceremony in May, 2017.
 
During the 1st Six Week grading period of this year, 263 students have had perfect attendance.
 
Why is attendance important?
  • Research shows that students attendance is directly related to student performance
  • Research shows that students with poor attendance are more likely to drop out of high school.
  • The Texas Education Agency (TEA) only awards Academic Distinctions to schools with high attendance rates (Top 25%).
  • In Texas, a school?s Average Daily Attendance (ADA) rate is used to calculate the school?s funding, better attendance equals higher funding.
  • To obtain credit for a class, a student must attend at least 90% of the days that class is offered. By law the maximum number of days, or parts of days that a student can be absence, and still earn course credit is 18.
