New assistant directors announced for KISD band program

Kennedale ISD Director of Bands Erol Oktay has announced the hiring of two assistant band directors for the 2016-17 school year. {{more:[read more]}}One will be taking over the duties of the KHS drumline and the jazz band and both will be working with the growing junior high and elementary programs.
 
Josie Inman …
 
Inman is a new Assistant Band Director at Kennedale High School. She is a 2009 graduate of Wills Point High School in Wills Point, Texas.
 
In 2013 she graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor of Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. While at SFA, she was a member of the Wind Symphony, Orchestra of the Pines, Lumberjack Marching Band, Flute Choir, and Steel Drum Band.
 
Josie has spent the last three years as the Head Director at New Diana Middle School and Assistant Director to New Diana High School. While at New Diana she directed the 7th Grade Band and taught beginner woodwinds and percussion as well as assisted with the high school band. Since teaching she has had appearances at the UIL State Marching Contest and conducted the New Diana High School Band at their 3A State Honor Band Concert. Josie is also a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, ATSSB, TBA, and TMEA.
 
Josie has been married to her husband, Michael, since June 2015. He recently became the Youth Minister at First Baptist Church Grand Prairie, where they currently live. They both enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, the Texas Rangers, and hanging out with their church family and community.
 
Jake Peralez …

Peralez graduated from the University of North Texas in 2012 with a degree in Music Education. During his time at UNT he performed with the UNT Drumline, steel bands, concert bands, and classical percussion ensembles. He also spent his time studying jazz under Jose Aponte.

 

After UNT, Mr. Peralez taught percussion in Austin, Frisco, and most recently, Houston, as the Percussion Director at Hastings High School. Mr. Peralez had the pleasure of taking the Hastings Indoor Percussion group to the TCGC State Championships in College Station, TX.

 
Mr. Peralez has also had the great opportunity to perform with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, The Dallas Cowboys Drumline, and the UNT Snare Ensemble.
 
In his free time he enjoys spending time on his family?s ranch in west Texas, recording music, and eating delicious foods!
 

Both are looking forward to being a part of the Kennedale band program.
