This week the Kennedale LadyKats volleyball team kicks off the season under new head coach Jennifer Patterson. She comes with eleven years coaching experience at The North Hills School in Las Colinas, Waxahachie and most recently at Crowley. {{more}}
With a degree in Fashion Promotion and Business, Patterson will be teaching Speech, Entrepreneurship and Sports Marketing at Kennedale High School.
She is ready for the season to begin and thinks the team is too. Coaching-wise she likes a fast offense and believes this team has adapted well to the new scheme. Saying, ?we ?ve got smart girls and we are running a pretty complex offense this year and I am excited by that.?
Six seniors are joined by four juniors, three sophomores and one freshman on the varsity squad that last year finished 2nd in District 6-3A, placed 6 on the All-district team and won in the first round of playoffs before losing the area round to Stephenville.
She loves this team’s attitude. ?They are a lot of fun. They work hard. They asked me to push them. They asked me to condition them. They asked me to motivate them. I love that, as for a coach, you cannot ask for more than that.”
She adds, ?They get in there and sweat, work hard and do everything that I ask them. By the end of the scrimmages on [last] Saturday they saw what they could do and they were excited about it.?
Patterson thinks that Godley and Alvarado should be the ones competing for the title in 7-4A along with Kennedale. The new district also includes Diamond Hill-Jarvis and Venus. (The district membership is different for football). See schedule at KHSVolleyball

When ask about her starters Patterson said, ?The philosophy that I go by is that we are a team, there will be no announcing starters. I play more than just 6 players. We have incredible girls [and] an incredible team. I really believe that if the girls keep playing like they have so far, we will be playing in the regional quarterfinals. And that is our goal [this year].?
The 2014 varsity squad includes Maggie Pyles, Darby Smith, Raeley Crosley, Bethany Klinkenburg, Danielle Hedglin, Sabrina Allen, Ashley Lineberger, Kylie Foster, Emma Riffe, Shelby Flowers, Jasmine Alli, Treazur Herford, Teleah Herford and Ashley Jones.
