New hires, retirements and end of year resignations part of June Board meeting

Dr. Karen Furman retiring

after 20 years in KISD

  • Dr. Karen Furman, Deputy Superintendent hired in 1995
  • Pam Gardner, James Arthur 5th Grade teacher hired in 1987
  • Brenda West, James Arthur 6th grade teacher hired in 1985
  • Oma McLaughlin, James Arthur 6th Grade teacher hired in 1981

There were also seven end of year resignations.

  • Amy Reynolds, James Delaney Elementary Pre K eacher
  • Nena Johnson, RF Patterson Elementary 2nd Grade teacher
  • Lisa Griffin, James Arthur Intermediate Music teacher
  • Steven Davidson, Kennedale Junior High Special Ed teacher
  • Jennifer Cook, Kennedale High Math teacher
  • Dimitri Higginbotham, Kennedale High Assistant Band Director (Percussion)
  • Nicole Parker, Kennedale High CTE Business teacher

New hires for 2016-17 include:

  • Patterson Elementary
    • Jennifer Zimmerman, Special Ed Teacher
  • James A. Arthur Intermediate
    • Brenda Doran, 5th Grade Math/Science Teacher (replace Gardner)
    • Sheri Mahanay, 6th Grade Science Teacher (replace West)
    • Stephanie Smith-Weatherton, Math Interventionist (replace Pollock)
  • Kennedale Jr. High School
    • Julie Stephen, Assistant Principal
  • Kennedale High School:
    • Brittany Batzlaff, Math Teacher
    • Josie Inman, Assistant Band Director
    • Mackenzie McLellan, SPED Teacher/Coach
    • Daniel Peralez, Assistant Band Director for percussion
    • Andrew Ellis, Math Teacher/Coach
