Having gone 23-2 and winning all of their regular season games the past two years, expectations for the No. 15 Gainesville Leopards team that fields 21 seniors will be high once again. This is the team that Kennedale will face on the road Friday. Gainesville has not lost in their stadium in over two years. {{more}}

Gainesville will return seven starters on defense and four on offense. GHS returns just one player on its offensive line ? senior center Dillon Schroeder – and one defensive back, senior cornerback Devin Mims. Gainesville High School athletic director Eric Johns said the Leopards are ?young? at those slots, but expects the groups to grow up fast along a strong front seven on defense and an experienced group of skill players on offense.

Gainesville?s schedule will be the most challenging the Leopards have seen under Gainesville Coach Hall, as each of their non-district opponents made the playoffs a season ago.

That non-district schedule includes Week 1 at Kauffman, Week 2 vs. No. 6 Kennedale, Week 3 at Alvarado, Week 4 vs. Ardmore (Gainesville?s Homecoming Game) and Week 5 at Princeton. Gainesville then gets a bye week and opens district play with its biggest challenge of the season ? No. 3 ranked Graham.

?There are two teams on our schedule that are picked to beat us, and that?s Kennedale and Graham,? Johns said. ?We?re really excited to have two Top 10 teams coming to our stadium. We haven?t lost here in a couple years now, and we?d like to keep that going.?

Gainesville won their opening game against Kaufman 14-7 Friday night.

The Kennedale vs Gainesville game is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Gainesville.
