Patterson Celebrates Pioneer Day

In December, fourth grade students at R.F. Patterson Elementary learned how the early pioneers lived and entertained themselves on ?Pioneer Day?. {{more}}
 
The students participated in various activities that included quilt making, creating log cabins out of popsicle sticks, making old-fashioned yoyo?s with string and a button, and decorating tin lanterns.
 
They had fun with stilt-walking and pillow sack races, ate Johnny cakes and Stone soup while listening to a story written by Laura Ingles Wilder.
 
The Mansfield Historical Society also volunteered their time and brought rag dolls for each student to make and take home.
 
The fourth graders spent the day learning about life without modern day conveniences and a world full of technology.
