After starting with 64 teams and completing 2 playoff rounds, there are now 16 teams vying for the 4A Division I state title. All represent the best of football in Class 4A. {{more: continue …}}
 
Three top ten teams have been knocked out of contention; Abilene Wylie by unranked Decatur (8-4), ranked Lubbock Estacado by ranked WF Hirschi (10-2) and ranked Van by ranked Kennedale (11-1). Note: there were 4 state wide polls that were considered AP, Max Preps, Lonestar Gridiron and Harris. The rankings were for the week prior to the playoffs.
 
Remaining in contention in the pre-playoff Top Ten polls are
  • 12-0 Carthage (listed in 4 of 4 polls),
  • 12-0 Argyle (4 of 4),
  • 12-0 Waco La Vega (4 of 4),
  • 11-1 Kennedale (4 of 4),
  • 12-0 Midlothian Heritage (4 of 4),
  • 9-3 China Springs (3 of 4),
  • 10-2 Stephenville (3 of 4),
  • 10-2 WF Hirschi (2 of 4)
  • 9-2 Liberty Hill (1 of 4).

Of those in the top ten, that number will drop this week by at least by 3 as Midlothian Heritage lines up against Kennedale, Argyle plays Stephenville and Liberty Hills takes on China Springs. Looking for a dark horse? There are a couple to consider including Wichita Falls Hirschi 10-2 and coached by former Kennedale assistant Danny Youngs. Another team that might still make waves is Stephenville (10-2).
 

Game day for Kennedale/Midlothian Heritage is this Friday at 7:30 p.m. at The Star in Frisco. Cost: $12 tickets online and $15 the day of at the gate. Everyone must have a ticket and there is on discount for age. Parking free. Buy Ticket
