These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded

Incident Reports

5/7 – Missing Person (Juvenile) – At 1:32 a.m. an officer responded to a report of a runaway. A complainant reported that her 16 year old daughter had called at 11:30 p.m. to ask to spend the night at a friend?s home. The daughter was told to come home immediately. When she didn?t return home police were contacted and she was entered into the national database as a runaway. At 4:21 a.m. the daughter called her parents and asked to be picked up. The officer met the parents at the pickup location to verify the runaway was not injured and she was released to the parents? custody.

5/10 – Incident – Kennedale Sublett Road: At 3:54 p.m. police were notified of a person with a gun call. A caller reported that a school bus driver was in possession of a handgun while driving a bus route. Officers were able to locate the bus and get it stopped. The driver was not armed nor was there a firearm in the vehicle. The driver stated that as he dropped off a student at her stop she had told him that police were contacted and told that he was armed. The driver was escorted to the bus facility where the student was identified. The case had been turned over to school resource officers for further investigation.

5/11 – Sex Offender Fail to Register Address – Mansfield Cardinal Road: At 11:48 a.m. a detective was notified by an Abilene, Texas police detective that a parole official had notified him of a sex offender moving to their jurisdiction. The suspect was still showing to reside in Kennedale but had other addresses after registering here. Further investigation revealed that the suspect registered and lived here for a short period. He was arrested and then moved to Fort Worth for a period of time when released. He failed to register his new addresses as well as failed to immediately register with Abilene. A warrant will be issued.

5/11 – Theft-Property $100 to $750 – Winterwood Drive: At 3:15 p.m. a victim reported that his stepson had stolen power tools worth several hundred dollars and pawned them. The stepson does not live at the residence now but did at the time of the theft.

5/11 ? Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information – 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 11:39 p.m. an officer was observing traffic at an intersection when he checked a license plate registration. The vehicle license returned as stolen out of Mineral Wells. The vehicle was parked at a convenience store and when the driver returned to the vehicle he was taken into custody. The driver stated that he had borrowed the vehicle, a Dodge truck, from a friend. Attempts to get the friend to respond to the location to pick up the truck were unsuccessful. The friend told the suspect on the second phone call that he knew police were on scene and hung up. The suspect states that he borrowed the truck to move some belongings and that the friend he got the truck from is a known gang member who carries a firearm. The truck was impounded and the suspect transported to jail for booking. While being booked in a piece of paper was located in the suspect?s pocket that contained personal information on several individuals, including credit card numbers. Two of the listed persons were contacted and stated that they had recently been victimized with credit/debit card fraudulent charges. They advised that they did want to prosecute for the offenses.

5/12 – Assault Bodily Injury – Arthur Drive: At 12:14 p.m. a victim reported that he was visiting a friend when another acquaintance arrived at the residence. The third person has apparently had problems with the victim before and walked up to the victim, striking him once in the face. The victim was knocked to the ground. As the suspect got into his vehicle to leave he intentionally backed into the victim?s vehicle and left. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $1,300.00.

5/12 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) – At 9:30 a.m. a female called to report that she had been abused by her husband. She reported a broken shoulder and bruises. Subsequent investigation revealed that the victim suffers from bipolar disorder and has not been taking her medication. She indicated a desire to harm herself and was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency detention and evaluation. She later stated that she had made up the abuse allegation and withdrew her statements.

5/12 – Aggravated Robbery – Teal Cove Drive: At 6:5 p.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery. A victim reported that at 3:00 p.m. three armed males forced their way into the residence and took several hundred dollars from a table.
