According to a development agreement with the City of Kennedale, Texas Raceway operations were required to close racing effective October 31, 2016. The owners of the racetrack have asked for a change in that agreement. {{more:Read more …}}

This is one item that is listed on the work agenda for the Kennedale City Council Monday evening. The work session begins at 5:30 p.m with the regular session starting at 7 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.
 
The change requested by the race track owners is based on the fact that Kennedale Speedway Park, who has been in talks with the City, is still operating. Texas Raceway has therefore requested that they be allowed to conduct races one day per month generally on the second or third Saturday of the month beginning March, 2017. This would continue until Kennedale Speedway Park closes.
 
Another item of interest listed under the work session will be to discuss renewing a tax-credit housing resolution so that O&M Housing can pursue a redesign of last year?s proposed mixed used development at Sublett and Kennedale Parkway. The proposal was tabled last year when it met with strong neighborhood opposition and did not meet City Council expectations.

Under the consent agenda is the approval to appoint two reserve police officers and the renewal of an agreement with the City of Fort Worth for rabies control.
 
Listed under action items are a proposal to consider a fleet leasing program for city vehicles as a cost saving measure and a public hearing on proposed Ordinance 619 regarding an amendment to the City?s Unified Development Code.
 
The City Council will go into closed session to conduct the annual evaluation of the city manager among other items.
