Rivera returns to KISD as coach

A former Wildcat from 2012 has returned to be a coach for Kennedale just as his younger brother begins his senior year as a starting safety for the Kennedale Wildcats. {{more: Read more …}}
Both Riveras, Coach Steven Rivera and senior Ector Rivera, have been impact players for their individual teams. While the younger Rivera, a two time all-state player has yet to finish his career, the elder Rivera is planning on extending his impact long term.
 

Steven Rivera, KHS Class of 2012, who just completed his degree at Tarleton State in Stephenville this past year, has accepted a job Kennedale Junior High to teach and coach at Kennedale Junior High School.

 
Rivera was the Wildcat?s quarterback in 2009-2011. The Wildcats went 28-9 in those three years, making the playoffs each year going two deep twice and three once.
 
His younger brother, KHS senior Ector Rivera, a free safety, was district ?Newcomer of the Year? his sophomore year as well as named an all-state player in his sophomore year by the AP. Then again last year, he was designated as an all-state player, this time by the Texas Association of Sports Writers.

was just about to accept a job at Alvarado when the offer came from Coach

Barrett. Steven didn?t have any doubt about where he wanted to coach, as you

can tell, from reading the following post.

announce I have accepted a job at Kennedale JH coaching and teaching. It?s is a

great honor to get to work under the man who coached me in high school and

brought out my love for the game.?

Coach Rivera will be

teaching science as well as coaching football, basketball, and track this year

at the junior high.
