Scott graduates early but has another year for the Mean Green

Fred Scott, KHS Class of 2013, enters his final year starting for the Mean Green of the University of North Texas as graduate student after finishing a year early. {{more: Read more …}}
 
Scott is a starting linebacker for the Green and leads the team in the number of consecutive games started (24), having started in every game both his sophomore and junior years.
 
He is the first sophomore to start in all 12 games at the middle linebacker spot at North Texas in over a decade. He played in 6 games as a freshman.
 
Last year, he recorded 68 tackles and 54 his sophomore year with his career best of nine coming against Rice University in 2015.
 
At Kennedale High School, he was a District 6-3A first-team selection in his senior with 86 tackles, nine for loss and three forced fumbles. He also earned academic All-State honors the same year. That year Kennedale went undefeated in district play, ending with a 9-3 record after losing in the regionals playoffs against Sephenville, the eventual 3A state champs.
 
The Mean Green will open their season against SMU, Saturday, September 3 in Denton playing under first year head coach Seth Littrell.
