Two weeks ago Kennedale sent over thirty student scholars to compete in the annual UIL district academic meet. The Wildcat not only won a pile of medals but returned with the district title. {{more: continue …}}

Kennedale has won 4 of the last 5 district academic meets and now two in a row.? The high school also won district championships in 2014 and 2015.

Kennedale finished in first place with 579 points followed by Mineral Wells (416) in second, Springtown (212) in third, Benbrook (139) in 4th and Lake Worth (130) in 5th with Castleberry and Diamond Hill following.

In all, Kennedale earned a total of 13 team awards ? 7 firsts, 3 seconds, 2 thirds and 1 fourth. There were a total of 42 individual awards for 1st through 5th places with 10 for first, 8 for second, 10 for third and 14 fourth and fifth place finishes.

Some of the most honored students, winning awards in multiple events and who will be going to region competition in Lubbock were Jay Acosta (6), Joseph Little (4), Olivia Ham (4) and Chris Chen (3).

Teachers working with the students included Brittany Batzlaff, Alison Boubel, Genevieve Croft, Clint Funderburk, Tracey Hadaway, Wendy Thacker and Marilyn Cadenhead who also serves as UIL Academic Campus Coordinator.
