What a difference they make in Monday mornings at Patterson!

Several of them arrive bright and early every Monday morning to help greet our students as they arrive at school. Students are greeted by our volunteers with a smile and a cheery ?good morning? as they start their school day. The volunteers join students in the cafeteria to assist with breakfast.

There are several members from the church who have taken on a huge commitment. Jody Berry has volunteered to be the Kids Hope director on our campus. As such, she went through training with Kids Hope, secured the volunteers and trained them, and has helped organize the program on our campus.

One child. One hour. One church. One school.

That is the Kids Hope motto and what a difference it makes! Each volunteer mentor comes to our school one day each week to spend an hour with one of our students, making a huge difference in that student?s day. While it is one hour one day a week, our hope is that the impact our mentors make will last a lifetime for these students.

Their commitment doesn?t stop there.

The volunteers from South Oaks Baptist Church sprinkle many of our days with special treats for our faculty and staff. From the simple things, like keeping our teacher workroom dispenser filled with M&Ms (a little chocolate can make a big difference!), to providing snacks for some of our faculty meetings, to putting surprise treats in faculty/staff boxes, to helping out with some of our nighttime school activities, these volunteers are such a positive addition to our school!
