This old fashion Abe Lincoln stump speaking and town social is open to the public with no charge. It is designed to give you as a citizens a chance to meet, greet and find out about the candidates who are running for Kennedale City Council and Kennedale ISD School Board as well as local community organizations.

For Kennedale this is for the first time in recent memory, if ever, that there are contested races for each position up that is up for election on May 5, 2018. This means that in this election citizens have a rare opportunity to make real choices. The city has three positions up for election with two candidates for each office listed. The KISD has three open positions for the school board with two candidates for each office listed. In total 12 citizens have stepped up to the plate and are asking for your vote. The playground is open for the kids. You may come and go or bring a snack or early supper and enjoy it as a social event on a pleasant Sunday afternoon (weather permitting).

Invitation to local candidates ?
?

You, as a local candidate for office, will be given an opportunity, if you so choose, to make a short stump speech as to the why and wheretos of your run for public office (10 minutes). This is not a Lincoln-Douglas debate format but you as a candidate will be offered a table at the park where you can answer any and all questions before or after your speech. You or your supporters may decorate your table anyway you choose. If you offer ?give-aways?, campaign literature or refreshments, you or your supporters will be expected to help police the area after the event is over.

This meet and greet event is design to give you another way to reach voters before early voting begins the next day on Monday, April 23. There is no formal invitation sent out on this event other than this notice. (Supporters of candidates are encouraged to pass this invitation on to the candidate). There will be a short meeting of candidates or representative on Wednesday, April 18 at 6 p.m. at Town Center Park to answer any questions and draw for the order of candidate speeches. Attendance is not required.

Please email the Kennedale News if you plan to attend the Old Town Stump Speech and Social Gathering on April 22 so that a table will be made available. If you are not able to attend, a table maybe be set up by your supporters but please note the stump-speech is reserved for the candidates only. An RSVP is not required for a candidate to attend this event and/or to make a speech. All candidates are welcomed.

Public service organizations ?

Whether you are the Kennedale Historical Society, PTO, KYA, Lions Club, Booster Clubs, Scouts or other organization, you are welcome to participate to the event highlighting public service.

Any organization who wants to participate should contact the Kennedale News at [email protected]. Organizations must be recognized by the city and or school district or affiliated with a national recognized public service organization. The approved organizations are encouraged to set up a table to promote or honor their work (BYOT ? bring your own table). Each organization will be publicly recognized during the event. Participating organizations will be ask to help police the area if you provide giveaways or refreshments.
