The Sooner Athletic Conference women’s basketball player-of-the-week is Evie Whorley of Texas Wesleyan University. The freshman guard from Kennedale, Texas averaged 14.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in games against Dillard (La.) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas). {{more: continue …}}

Whorley was a 2017 graduate from Kennedale High School. While playing for the Lady Kats She was named District 7-4A Newcomer of the Year as a sophomore and District Co-MVP in her junior and senior seasons. In addition she was named All-Region, All-State, and Fort Worth Star-Telegram All-Area Super Team as both a junior and senior. In her senior year, she was named All-State by both the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) and the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC). In her final year with Kennedale under head coach Doug Watson, the Lady Kats finished 33-4, 12-0.
