Tech Ace & KHS Grad Corey Taylor tops in the nation

Texas Tech senior right-handed pitcher Corey Taylor (Kennedale, Texas) is one of 39 pitchers in the nation named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List, the organization announced Tuesday. {{more}}
 
Taylor is the first Red Raider to make the prestigious watch list since 2012 (RHP John Neely) while currently leading the country with a 0.36 ERA with two earned runs allowed in 50.0 innings pitched. He is 3-0 with 28 strikeouts and 11 walks allowed with two saves on the season.
 
Taylor has thrown multiple innings in 13-of-17 outings – all relief – while opening the season with 29.1 consecutive innings pitched without allowing an earned run.
 
He has made multiple appearances in four of Tech’s five Big 12 series this year. He ranks 13th in the nation in WHIP (0.86) and 14th in hits allowed/nine innings (5.76).
 
During his three-year career at Tech, Taylor is 10-8 with a 3.46 ERA in 56 appearances with four saves, 151.0 innings pitched, 91 strikeouts and 42 walks. He has posted 31 scoreless outings during his Red Raider career.
