The students are assigned a famous person, either past or present to research. Since the fourth grade social studies curriculum is based on Texas History, it is a fun way for the students to learn about and portray a person that has made an impact on our great state.

After students researched their person, they organized their information in a graphic organizer which they then used to create a foldable with biographical information such as, birth date, birth place, education, family and accomplishments.

The students then presented their information to their classmates. Students dressed up like their person and presented an oral speech, skit, song, or poem about their person to an audience of parents, teachers, and students.?

The fourth grade students are always excited on performance day say their teachers and take pride in all the hard work they have accomplished. As the younger students watched them perform, it is oblivious that the students are looking forward to their chance to participate in this event in the coming years.
