Thibeau settling in on Lyon defense

Taylor Thibeau (KHS Class 2015) is getting some early notice on the Lyon College?s football team at the beginning of his sophomore year. Last year as a true freshman, he played in 8 games, started one and recorded 10 tackles. {{more: Read more …}}
 
“We have seven returning starters on defense and their game experience from last year will really help us in the long run. Those reps help them understand what has to happen and how to do it. Last year we had a lot of redshirt and true freshmen and this year those guys will be taking some of the new players under their wings and coaching those guys up,” first-year defensive coordinator Del Howard told KAIT Region 8 News.
 
Taylor Thibeau saw a lot of action on special teams last year and will get more reps in the defensive backfield, Howard said.

Thibeau is listed as a 5-11, 192lbs safety. As a senior at Kennedale, he played on the first KHS Wildcat team ever to record an undefeated regular season. The season ended with a 12-1 record. During the 2014 season he was voted dfwVarsity Player of the Week. He went on to make All District as an outside linebacker and Class 4A Honorable Mention Defensive team and ended the season with 90 tackles, 15 tackles for losses, 7 sacks, 1 interception, caused 2 fumbles and recovered 2 fumbles.
 
just second season for Lyon football …
 
Lyon reinstated football three years ago after discontinuing the program in 1951. The Scots practiced in 2014, but did not play any intercollegiate contests. Last season Lyon posted a 0-11 season in its first season, finishing 0-6 against competition in the Central States Football League.
 
The Lyon College Scots football team under first year head coach Kyle Phelps will open their second season next Thursday against Wayland Baptist University at home.
