On Tuesday of this week, Kennedale open their season with a sweep of 5A Arlington Heights, winning the match 25-9, 25-12 and 25-11. Actually, all three teams (varsity, JV and freshmen) defeated the Heights.
Yesterday, August 9, in pool play at Duncanville?s Tournament of Champions, the Lady Kat Varsity defeated 5A Cleburne 25-20, 25-16; beat 6A DeSoto 25-19, 25-22; and, topped 5A Lancaster 25-13, 25-11.
These teams are just warm-ups to the better teams that will face on Saturday and over the next four weeks before district play begins on September 13th. Last year the young team was roughed up during this stretch before bouncing back to sweep district.
Today, they start in the Gold Bracket at Duncanville facing the top teams in this tournament. Two of the best are Midlothian Heritage and Arygle. Results will be posted Monday.
ST Players to Watch ?
Last week the Star-Telegram listed players to watch in District 9-4A. Kennedale had the most with six players. These were (listed in alphabetical order):
  • Tatum Pavey (JR),?
  • Maddie Pyles (SO),?
  • Gracyn Reed (SO),?
  • Lilly Rychlik (SR),?
  • Katie Spell (JR), and?

We may be a bit bias but I think there is a seventh ? the Team.
