saw action last year …

As a true freshman, Wadley saw action in 10 games and coming into this year he had starter written on over him until the shoulder injury sidelined him in spring ball.

?We?re going to gain back Quardraiz Wadley at some point very early in the season. That?s good news for us because we were not anticipating that,? Kugler said, ?The kid has worked his tail off to get back healthy. We?re anticipating getting him sometime around October.?

Having Wadley back at some point this season will be helpful for the Miners, who are looking to rebound in 2017 after a disappointing 4-8 season a year ago. Most national preseason predictions aren?t high on the Miners in 2017 either, but Kugler is just focused on controlling what he can with his team.

It is not particularly good news though that the Miners face Oklahoma on Saturday in Norman.

Wadley was another in a long line of big time rushers for Kennedale. He may have been one the best surprises that year for the coaches and fans alike.

He rushed for 2,511 yards on 224 carries (11.2 avg.) and 45 touchdowns in 13 games during his senior year. He returned nine kickoffs for 319 yards (35.4 avg.) and a score. He also registered 10 games of 100-plus rushing yards, including four 200-plus yard games and a pair of 380-plus yard contests. He ended up ranked sixth in the state of Texas in rushing yards, third in rushing scores and fourth in total touchdowns.

The Wildcats went undefeated in regular season and three deep into the state playoffs. The Cats finished 12-1 overall. For his efforts, he was named the Texas 4A Offensive Player of the Year, was placed on the AP All-State 4A 1st Team and earned a 3-star recruit rating on scout.com.

Wadley is a criminal justice major at University of Texas at El Paso.
