As teachers prepare to head back to the classroom, Wal-Mart is offering special deals to save them money.
 
Starting Friday, Wal-Mart will offer teachers a 10 percent savings on classroom supplies in a promotion that runs for a week. The retailer said its discount is in response to decreased funding for teachers nationwide. {{more}}
 
Teachers who shop at Wal-Mart stores during the company?s Teacher Appreciation Week will receive a WalMart eGift Card for 10 percent back on nearly 15,000 products, from pencils and glue to classroom decor.
 
?On average, teachers around the country spend about $1,000 readying their classrooms, and half of that comes from reaching into their own wallets to make sure students have what they need,? Steve Bratspies, executive vice president, said in a statement.
 
After shopping, teachers will need to go online to www.walmart.com/   teachers by Aug. 15 to register receipts by entering their school information and receipt transaction code.
 
Savings on eligible items will be rebated on a Wal-Mart eGift card via email within 14 days.
