This was a come from behind win as the Aztecs found themselves on the short end of a 10-6 halftime score The Aztecs stormed back to score 28 unanswered points. One of the San Diego scores belonged to freshman running back, Juwan Washington.

 
Washington, Kennedale Class of 2015, was redshirted his first year.
 

This year Washington has been playing in a rotation behind Aztec senior premier running back Donnell Phumphrey, who became the NCAA all-time rushing leader with 6,411 total yards. He is currently the 2016 national leader with 2,133 yards.

 
Playing in this backfield that also included junior Rashaad Penny, who surpassed 1000 yard this season, has been limited for Washington. But Washington has made an impact in his freshman season scoring 8 touchdowns and accumulating 806 all-purpose yards.
 
On offense, Washington has rushed for 441 yards for an average of 8 yards per carry and six touchdowns with the longest being 81 yards. He has also caught 3 passes for 72 yards and 1 touchdown. On special teams Washington has 10 kickoff returns for 293 yards and that includes a ninety-two yard touchdown return.

Washington racked up big numbers at Kennedale High School, where he won three varsity letters … Rushed for 5,139 yards and 75 touchdowns with an average of 9.5 yards per carry during his career, according to MaxPreps … Eclipsed the 300-yard mark five times in 24 games as a prep … Also combined for 836 yards on kickoff returns … Earned second-team all-state honors after running for 2,695 yards and 39 scores during his senior season, leading the Wildcats to a 12-1 overall record and an appearance in the UIL Conference 4A Regionals
 
Picked SDSU over other offers from Houston, Arkansas State, Louisiana-Monroe and Texas State … also received recruiting interest from numerous other schools, including Arkansas, Baylor, Brigham Young, Duke, Kansas State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, TCU and USC, among others … is majoring in kinesiology with an emphasis in fitness.
