These are important committees that provided the city council the feedback and advice needed to run the city in the best interest of all.
 
Meet the members of the BOA/BBA (Members serve on both boards)
 
BOA/BBA Place 1: Brian Cassady (Since 1999)
 

Brian has a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and a Master?s in Management Science He has served on BOA for 17 years and the Building Board of Appeals for the past decade.

 
BOA/BBA Place 2: VACANT
 
BOA/BBA Place 3: Pat Vader (2005)
 
Pat and his wife, Judy, have been Kennedale residents for about 14 years, and they have three daughters and six grandchildren. He?s a UTA alum, who?s been in the building material business for over 40 years. Pat also serves on the Board of Directors of a non-profit, and has been active in various civic organizations, including the board of a private high school and numerous building committees.
 
BOA/BBA Place 4: Martin Young (2012)
 
Martin has lived in Kennedale for about 11 years, and has a Bachelor?s in Accounting from TCU. He worked for AT&T for 34, but is now retired. Martin appreciates many of the long-range goals defined in the Strategic Plan, and hopes his work on the advisory boards will help the city achieve goals like the restoration of Village Creek and the redevelopment of Oak Crest. He also volunteers his time with Habitat for Humanity and has served in several roles in the Election process.
 
BOA/BBA Place 5: Jeff Madrid (2009)
 

Jeff has lived in Kennedale for more than a decade, and enjoys gaining in-depth knowledge through his service on BOA/BBA. He currently works as a Security Manager at a Fortune 500 Company, and was previously employed by the Keller Fire Department in the past. Other community service includes 23 years of volunteering as a Public Safety Officer for the City of Dalworthington Gardens.

 
BOA/BBA Place 6: Jeff Nevarez (Alternate) 2015
 
Jeff has served on various advisory boards for almost a decade, and is currently on BBA/BOA and the Parks Board. He?s also active in the Kennedale Area Chamber of Commerce (KACC), serving as ground director for the annual parade. Jeff, a UTA alum, is a computer specialist, owner of TechXperts.guru, and coaches Upward Flag Football coach at Lake Arlington Baptist Church.
 

BOA/BBA Place 7: John Clark (Chair) 2015

 
John has been married to Rebecca since 1983, and they?ve lived in Kennedale since 1987. They have two adult children ? Chris, who works for Novartis/ Alcon in Fort Worth, and Samantha, who teaches blind and visually impaired students in the Northwest ISD. John is an attorney and has previously served as a Councilmember and Mayor in Kennedale. He was appointed Chair of BOA/BBA in 2015, and is in his first year of service as a Trustee for Kennedale ISD. John?s most recent service on BOA/BBA began in 2015, but he also served in the ?90s.

BOA/BBA Place 9: Lana Elrod Sather (Alternate) 2011
 
Lana is the fifth generation (on both sides of her family!) to reside in Kennedale, and follows numerous family members in h service to the community. She is a graduate of Kennedale High School, Baylor (BSEd), and UNT (MSEd). Lana has also been a member of and held board positions in the Kennedale Youth Association (KYA), the Miniature Basketball Association (MBA), the Historical Society, the Kennedale Alumni Association, the United Educators Association, and PTA at all levels.
 

The Board of Adjustment hears residents? requests for appeals of decisions made by the city staff in their interpretation of the city?s planning and zoning ordinances. The board also hears requests for special exceptions and variances. The Building Board of Appeals hears appeals of orders, decisions, or determinations made by the building official in their application interpretation of the technical provisions of the various building codes adopted by the city, and demolition of sub-standard structures. Regular meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month (if there are cases to hear)
