Kennedale Wildcats faced another 4A team in Texas High (Texarkana, TX) Friday night winning this match 25-13 and ending a tough pre-district schedule. Kennedale has had a mixed season winning three and losing two. With the exception of Texas High all were against winning teams with three of the teams being 4A. What has been evident so far is that this team like all Barrett teams runs the ball and can run it well. In the four games prior to playing Texas High, the offense has gained 1693 yards with all but 122 yards on the ground. Interestingly most of the games have been high scoring affairs though not always in Kennedale favor.
Opening against 4A Crowley (2-1) on Crowley?s home field the Cats had trouble early on before scoring 28 points in the second quarter and then taking control of the 4th quarter winning the game 42-38. A week later the Wildcats took on another 4A team Mansfield Legacy (3-0) and saw the losing end of 41-7 game. The offense still gained nearly 300 yards. The following week Kennedale totally dominated a Dallas (3A) Wilmer-Hutchins team scoring the first 38 points and leading by 50-14 at halftime. One Kennedale player, Juwan Washington (Soph), had 258 yards with 4 touchdowns. Wilmer-Hutchins (3-1) did make it game with the final score being a whopping 66-52. Kennedale had 400 yards rushing in the game. In he fourth game of the year Kennedale was pitted against 3A Argyle (3-1). This game went Argyle?s way early and ended 44-13. Still the Wildcats move on the Argyle Eagles, out gaining their opponent but just not able to put it across the goal line when needed.
After the Texas High game the Wildcats will get a chance to take a break for one week before opening district play against Springtown at home. This is a new district for Kennedale and after the tough pre-district schedule should favor Kennedale.
