Wildcats play Iowa Park in Area Playoff Friday night

The Kennedale Wildcats (22-12) have moved into the second round of the UIL playoffs this Friday night against Iowa Park (11-16). Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. at Jacksboro High School. {{more:[read more]}} Directions
 
Darius Hammond had great game with 21 points
Iowa Park is coming off at 57-56 win over Mineral Wells, winning on a buzzer beater from half court. Kennedale dropped the Springtown Pojos Monday night 84-66 in a bi-district match-up.
 
1st quarter tight but then it was off to the races …

In Monday night’s game with Springtown, the first quarter was tight and it took back to back 3?s from Hammond and Conwright to put the Wildcats ahead to end quarter up 19-15. Conwright and Otts each led the Cats with 6 points each.
Brandon Conwright led the charge also

Carrying over from the 1st quarter, Kennedale continue to push the ball with their fast break game and went on a 13-4 run to push their lead to 32-19. Springtown would never recover. The Cat finished the first half in front 43-29. Hammond flashed down the court for 10 points and Otts had 5 to lead Kennedale in Q2.
 
Pojos playing catch-up couldn’t …
 
From that point, it was Springtown trying to play catch-up. The Pojos slowed the game down again in the third and managed to outscore the Cats 18-16 but it was too little and the Cats remained on top 59-47 at the end of Q3. Conwright had 5 and Hammond 4 to lead in scoring for the Cats in the quarter.

Colton Otts tossed in 15 pts
Kennedale wrapped up the 4th outscoring the Pojos 25-19 with Quardraiz Wadley putting in 7 and Conwright tossing in another 6 to lead the Wildcats.

For the game, leading both sides were Wildcats Darius Hammond (Sr), having one of his best scoring games this season, who tied Brandon Conwright (Sr) for the most points at 21. Also scoring for the Cats were Colton Otts (Sr) with 15, {{t2:Quardriaz Wadley: }} (Sr) with 9, {{t2:Chris Saulsby: }} (Jr) 6, {{t2:Stephone Jackson: }} (Jr) 4, {{t2:Tre Jones: }} (Fr) 3, {{t2:Uniikye Washington: }}(So) 2, {{t2:Devon Stapleton: }} (So) 2 and {{t2:Zach Tate: }} (Sr) 1.
 
Players added to the varsity roster from JV for the playoff run besides {{t2:Tre Jones: }} are {{t2:Dylon Barber: }} (Jr) and {{t2:Bryce Hackett: }} (So).
 
Friday Game Preveiw: Iowa Park vs Kennedale
 
The Iowa Park Hawks (11-16, 3-5) play in District 5-4A, a four team district that includes Burkburnett (18-6, 7-1), Wichita Falls Hirschi (21-11, 7-2) and Vernon (7-21, 0-8). Kennedale (23-12, 9-1) has split games with Hirschi in pre-district play. Iowa Park lost all three district games against Hirschi.
 
In overall common opponents, Iowa Park has 2-7 record and Kennedale has 5-3 record. Kennedale losses with common opponents have been to Bridgeport (67-79) in the first game of the season, Mineral Wells (86-90) in overtime and the split with Hirschi (W74-60 and L 49-60) in pre-district play.
 
Kennedale averages 68 points a game and Iowa Park averages 50. According to MaxPreps, Kennedale is ranked 39th in Class 4A in Texas and Iowa Park is at 103.

In the other side of this bracket the winner of the Kennedale/Iowa Park game will play the winner of Hirschi/Bridgeport game also being played on Friday at 8 p.m. at Midwestern State. Kennedale would love to have the last word with either of these teams.
