Wildcats scatter the Lions 57-0, take 1st place

Friday night the Kennedale Wildcats moved to an 8-0 record and 3-0 in district play by dominating another opponent 57-0.
 
The Castleberry Lions (0-8, 0-3) were never really in the game although they fought all the way.

The Wildcats capitalized on short field positions given by the Cats’ defense and special team to the offense and score three touchdowns taking early control of the game.
 
Kennedale rolled up 484 yards for the night, 468 on the ground at nearly 10 yards a clip.
 
Juwan Washington (Sr) hardly stretched his legs, on just 13 touches, scoring 3 times on 106 yards at 8.2 yards a carry.
 
Ronald Hayes (Sr) plowed up the field with 139 yards, 2 touchdowns at an average of 10.69 yards a carry.
 
Kennedale’s third leading rusher for the year, QB Jake Michener (Sr) rushed for 99 yards on just 7 attempts and a touchdown. He passed for another and added a rushing two point conversion to his resume for the evening.
 
TE Cody Bishop (Sr) made a leaping catch in the end zone for the sole passing TD, his second for the year.
 
Kicker Zane Kottwitz (Sr) remained consistent as he added 7 extra points to Wildcat score bringing his season total to 62 points. Kottwitz is the third leading scorer for the Wildcats.
 
CB Derrick Williams (Sr), aka ?The DART?, had 14 tackles and a 43 yard punt return that set up an early Wildcat touchdown. He is the team leader with 82 tackles through 8 games.
 
LB Andrew Long (Jr) led the team in tackles with 17, giving him 66 for the year.
 
CB Landon Cook (Sr) finished with 10 adding to his total of 40.
 
DT Brent Reed smashed through for 9 tackles. He has 29 for the year.
 
Castleberry managed only 143 yards against the Wildcat defense, fumbled 3 times losing one and went 0-6 in passing.
 
Kennedale, who actually sewed up a playoff spot last week, are in sole possession of 1st place in District 5-4A with two game remaining.
 
Next week the Wildcats entertain the Alvarado Indians at home Halloween night. It will be Senior Night at Wildcat Stadium as this will be last regular season home game.
 
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
