The Texas UIL has unveiled the future of Kennedale High School, at least for the next two years. For football, think Fort Worth but for basketball and volleyball, think preparatory and charter schools. {{more: continue …}}
Kennedale remains in 4A Region ll for playoff purposes.
Football more of the same, literally ?
In this new pairing for of District 6/4A Division I football, Lake Worth HS leaves for the north (District 4/4A ? Decatur, Gainesville, Springtown and others). Replacing Lake Worth is not one but two Fort Worth ISD high schools, Carter Riverside and Eastern Hills. Both additions are high schools that are falling back from 5A Division II into Class 4A.
Kennedale and Castleberry are the only non-FWISD schools in the realigned 6/4A.
District 6-4A:
  • FTW Benbrook,?
  • FTW Carter Riverside,?
  • FTW Dunbar,?
  • FTW Eastern Hills,?
  • FTW Western Hills,?
  • FTW Diamond Hill Jarvis,?
  • Kennedale,?
  • Castleberry.?
Expect Kennedale to be at the top challenging for another district title. The tagline for Kennedale? ? ?the ones to beat.?
Charter basketball/volleyball ?
Kennedale basketball for both girls and boys and for girls volleyball will be in District 10/4A. The? district will include five charter schools and two traditional schools. Along with Kennedale, the other traditional high school is Carrollton Ranchview.
District 10/4A:
  • Carrollton Ranchview High School,?
  • FW Harmony School Of Nature & Athletics,?
  • Kennedale High School,?
  • Dallas Oak Cliff Faith Family,?
  • Uplift North Hills Prep,
  • Uplift Arlington Summit International Prep,?
  • Uplift Dallas Williams Prep.?
At this point, the strength in the new district on the boys side in basketball, would be in Dallas Oak Cliff Faith Family and Kennedale. Faith Family is ranked #3 in the latest TABC poll and are the defending state champions. It has been a good two year run for Faith so far. Ranchview has had some better days, but, the program has been struggling the past several years.
In both volleyball and basketball for the Lady Kats it is an open question who will be the challenge to Kennedale?s district dominance.?
In any case, expect both the Kennedale Lady Kats and the Wildcats to make another claim to the title in District 10/4A in 2020-21.
