Wildcats take series over Bridgeport for bi-district title

Kennedale Baseball passed the first hurdle in the UIL playoffs by beating Bridgeport in two games this past weekend. {{more}}
 
In the first game, the Cats down the Bulls by a score of 7-1 (see story). Saturday afternoon the Wildcats won 10-5, giving Kennedale the series and advancing the Cats to Area play this weekend against Abilene Wylie.
In Game 1 of the best of three series, Kennedale (14-8-1) will play the Wylie Bulldogs (18-4) at Wylie High School in Abilene Friday evening starting 5 p.m. Game 2 will be on Saturday in Kennedale beginning at 2:30 p.m. with Game 3, if needed, following. Wylie was ranked #8 in the last THSB 4A Poll on May 4.
 
On Saturday it was six runs by the Cats in the 2nd that sank the Bulldogs. Kennedale who had already scored one run in the 1st added two more in the 4th and one in the 6th for 10 runs on 14 hits with no errors.
 
TJ Aguilar coming in the bottom third, got the win for the Cats allowing just two hits with no earned runs, walking two and striking out six during his 4 1/3 innings of work.
 
Tyler Perez went 2 for 4, helping the Wildcats with a 2 run double in the second inning and a single in the 4th.
 
The Wildcats got things going in the first with one run on singles by Steven Murchison, Jake Michener and Aaron Williams.
 
In the second with 2 outs and a 1-1 count, Lukas Williams started the Kennedale scoring spree with a single to center field followed by singles by Steven Murchison, Jake Michener and Aaron Williams, scoring two runs. Cody Bossaller reached after being hit by pitcher followed by Perez?s 2 run double scoring Michener and A Williams. The final two runs came after Bossaller stole home and Aguilar reached on a ground ball error sending Perez home.
 
After the first, Bridgeport brought home one run in the second inning and the fourth. In between Bridgeport scored two runs in the bottom of the third.
 
Kennedale responded in the top of the 4th and facing two outs after Bossaller hit into a double play, the Cats stretch the lead to 9-4 on a single (Perez), a walk (Aguilar), hit by pitch (Walsh) and another single (Shane O?Connor). The last run of the game was scored in the top of the 6th off a single by L Williams.
 
Kennedale did play error free ball but left 11 players on base in this game.
