Kennedale High School? cross country teams have already been in two meets and are competing in one today in Midlothian.? So far the results have been postive for the young team with places in the top 10 for both the girls and boys team.? {{more: continue …}}

On August 24, the Wildcats hosted the Wildcat Run at MLK Jr Sports Complex in Arlington. Twenty-seven high schools participated. The meet included two divisions, 6A and 5A for boys and 6A, 5A and 4A for girls.?

The Kennedale Varsity Wildcats finished in 7th place in the 5A division of the 5000 meter run. River Oaks Castleberry was first followed by Boswell, Midlothian HS, Midlothian Heritage, Paradise, Cleburne and Kennedale. Topping out the top 10 was Keene, Stephenville and Mineral Wells.

Midlothian HS junior Tanner Henderson had the top time at 17:13.85 in the field of 105 runners. KHS junior Marcos Flores finished 23rd with a time of 19:33.43. Other Wildcats with place and time listed were freshman Brandon Haub (26th, 19:47.61), junior Alexander Ferretis (28th, 19:52.11), sophomore Nathaniel May (44th, 20:49.90), freshman Eadan Bowman (4th, 21:00.08), junior Marcos Gonzales (57th, 21:20.04), and senior Caleb Hall (64th, 21:25.41).

KHS JV Wildcats runners included senior Michael Moreno, freshman Alexander Cruz, junior Sunny Pradhan, freshman Bryan Flores, senior Nicholas Cajero, sophomore Christian Rockin, senior Logan Fucile, senior Ramon Marquez and senior Randy Diaz.

The Kennedale Lady Kats Varsity participated in the 4A 3200 meter run and finished in 3rd place behind Castleberry and Godley. The rest of the finishes in order were Brock, Midlothian Heritage, Paradise, Keene, Henrietta and Mineral Wells.

Overall winner was Emily Longoria from Henrietta with a 13:57.65 finish. KHS junior Rachel Stone was the top finisher for Kennedale in 7th place with a time of 14:22.16. In all there were 65 runners. Others for Kennedale with rank and time listed included junior Sarayas Flores (15th 15:03.80), freshman Cassidy Roades (16th, 15:10:86), freshman Delilah Martinez (19th, 15:33.93), freshman Shelby Shallcross (23rd, 15:43.88), freshman Savanna Danner (28th, 15:49.97).

Noted performances – Kennedale?s freshmen females competed well in the 3200 meter race. Compared to other freshmen in all divisions for the 3200 meter run, Kennedale had four that landed in the top ten freshmen female runners ? Cassidy Rhodes 4th, Delilah Martinez 5th, Shelby Shallcross 6th and Savanna Danner 7th. Among the freshmen males, Kennedale?s Brandon Haub finished 2nd and Eadan Bowman was 10th.

Kennedale finished 5th and 7th in the 18th running of the Burleson Elk Run held on August 31. There were 13 Class 4A boys teams with 156 individual runners and there were 12 teams entered in the girls 4A division with 160 runners.

Kennedale boys came in 5th place behind Castleberry, Argyle, Wills Point, Stephenville, Springtown, Canton, Dallas Life Oak Cliff, Glen Rose and Lake Worth rounded out the top 10.

The fastest time was made by Jose Ramirez of Castleberry. Marcos Flores (Jr) turned in the fastest time for Kennedale at 18:22.22 for 18th place. Alexander Ferretis (Jr) was 2nd for Kennedale runners at 18:57.01 for 22nd place. Brandon Haub (Fr) was 3rd for Wildcat runners with a time of 18:57.01 and 33rd place. Completing the top 5 runners for Kennedale were Micheal Moreno (Sr) time of 19:28.20 and Nathaniel May (So) with time of 19:28.46.

On the girls side, there were 12 teams participating in the 3200 meter race for Class 4A with 160 runners. The Kennedale Lady Kats finished in 8th place. Behind Argyle, Stephenville, Castleberry, Godley, Wills Point, Brock and Glen Rose. Lake Worth finished 9th followed by Mineral Wells, Springtown, and Dallas Life Oak Cliff.

The top time was by Presley Wall (So) of Stephenville with a time of 12:48.46. Sarayas Flores (Jr) was the top Lady Kat with a 14:08.02 time. Shelby Shallcross (Fr) was 2nd at 14:53.05 and Cassidy Hughes (Fr) 3rd with 15:14.42 for the Kats. Other Kats competing included Savanna Danner, Samatha Robledo, Esmeralda Oritz and Katya Salas.

Noted performancesShelby Shallcross had the 10th best time for 9th grade girls. Sarayas Flores was 4th against all junior all divisions.
