Youngs leaves for Hirschi Head Coach, KHS loses two coaches

Last month Wichita Falls Hirschi High School offered the head coaching job to Kennedale Defensive Coordinator Danny Youngs and he took it.
 
In an article in the Times Record News, Youngs, who has taught and coached at Kennedale for the last five years had this to say about the opportunity ?I?m excited, not going to lie,? Youngs said of becoming the leader of a program. ?I?ve been waiting a long time for this.? {{more}}
 
For Kennedale this is a double whammy because going with Youngs will be his wife the Lady Kats Head Coach, Mindy Youngs. Mindy, a long time assist for the basketball program had taken over for the head job this past year. She led the Lady Kats to a 20-11 record, an undefeated district title and their 5th straight regional appearance.
 
Danny Youngs will be starting his first head coaching position. Youngs coached at Grandview (2005-09); Dallas Sunset (2004-05) and Mexia (1999-2004) prior to his stint at Kennedale. He graduated from West High School.
 
The Times Record News reported that Youngs replaces Cody Slater, who left in April to take over a new high school in Benbrook. The Huskies went 7-4 in 2013, which marked their first playoff trip since 2006. Read

According to the Times, Wichita Falls ISD Athletic Director Kenny Catney believes Youngs has the energy, discipline and leadership to give the students a chance to find that success.
 
?I?m real excited with his ideas on discipline, getting the kids to behave and feel like it?ll be beneficial to all of our programs at Hirschi,? Catney said. ?He has a plan we feel like will work at Hirschi.
 
?He?s a very hard worker and very thorough. And he?ll take the time to spend with the athletes.?
 
Youngs was release several weeks early from his contract to start the new duties at Hirschi. He and his wife made the actual move this past weekend after Mindy?s last work day at Kennedale High School.
