Kennedale High School hosted their annual Iron Cat?Powerlifting meet January 12, 2013. An event that had 17 boys? teams and 11 girls? teams entries and included 3A, 4A and 5A schools from around DFW area.?Kennedale athletes who placed were:
- Kevin Huynh, Sr., 132 lb class-365 lb squat, 195 lb bench, 380 dead lift, 925 total, 2nd place.
- Derrick Williams, So., 114 lb class-215 squat, 155 bench, 250 dead lift, 620 total, 3rd place
- Lee Brooks, Sr., 198 lb class- 405 squat, 325 bench, 450 dead lift, 1180 total, 4th place
- Trey McGahan, Sr., 220 lb class- 530 squat, 290 bench, 525 dead lift, 1345 total, 4th place
- Brent Reed, So., 275 lb class- 375 squat, 260 bench, 500 dead lift, 1255 total, 5th place.

This past weekend at Venus another group of boys competed and came back with the following:
- Shafiq Asmaty, Jr., 1st place 132 lb class;
- Fouad Ali, Sr., 4th place 165 lb class;
- Hugo Giron, Jr., 5th place 198 lb class.
- Also competing were Cody Bossaller, Cody Maiure, Trey White, Matthew Naugle, and Ryan Laiton.
