On arrival in the area, officers began to investigate the call. An 18-year-old male suspect was located walking a short distance away. During a field interview, the male was found to be in possession of a 9mm handgun.

A sweep of the area later revealed multiple 9mm casings in the intersection as well as near a parked vehicle in a nearby neighborhood. The vehicle had sustained several bullet holes fired by the suspect. One of the rounds struck a home, but did not penetrate.

The suspect was arrested and charged with Deadly Conduct as well as Felon in Possession of a Firearm due to a previous burglary conviction. The handgun was determined to have been stolen in a Kennedale vehicle burglary earlier this month and was entered into evidence.

The suspect was transported to jail for booking and remains in custody.
