Born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on October 10, 1941, Butch was raised in Lamesa and Pecos, Texas, later moving with his family to Kennedale, Texas – a small community adjacent to Fort Worth.

Over the years he worked at Texas Truss Company, Texas Lumber Company, Laurel Land Cemetery and finally as a courtesy clerk at Albertsons.

In 1999, he suffered a massive stroke from which he never completely recovered. He moved to Conroe, Texas shortly thereafter to live with his brother, Jim, and then sister-in-law, Charlee. Butch and Jim spent several years enjoying the bachelor life, until his death.

A long-time director and board member of the Crighton Theater, Jim encouraged Butch to audition for small parts which he was cast in for the productions of Annie, Oklahoma, Inherit the Wind, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Fidler on the Roof and many others. The Crighton also was a venue for roadshows, and Butch was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet and talk with Debbie Reynolds, Marvin Hamlisch, Ray Price, B. J. Thomas, Larry Gatlin, James Drury, Sons of the Pioneers, The Lettermen and many others. When not cast in a play, Butch could always be seen ushering and shaking hands with everyone he met. In 2008 he was awarded the Patron Award for his tireless work as a Crighton volunteer.

His passions included movies and westerns, and music, especially southern gospel, and the oldies, Tennessee Ernie Ford and Eddy Arnold. Butch was a kind and gentle soul who only saw the good in people.

He is survived by his brother, Jim Walker; sister, Carole Crawford; nephew and wife, David and Dr. Kate Walker; nephews Andrew Copeland and John David Copeland; nieces, Leighza Walker, Melissa Walker Roles and husband Mike Roles, Brandi, Boyd and daughter Paton Sellers, Christy Mitchell, and Stacey Purdy, husband and son, J.P.

Butch was preceded in death by his mother, Vickie Walker (Kennedale, Texas); father, Carl Walker, Sr. (San Diego, California) nephew, Jason Elery Walker (Conroe, Texas) and Auggie Copeland, USMC (Conroe, Texas.) The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at Vitas Hospice in The Woodlands, whose loving and compassionate care was so appreciated.
