The Kennedale City Council will meet in regular monthly session this Thursday, February 15 at Kennedale City Hall. The regular session will start at 7 p.m. in council chambers with a work session set for 5:30 p.m. Both meetings are open to the public. {{more: continue …}}

The regular date for city council meetings is normally the third Monday of the month but since this month’s meeting fell on Presidents’ Day, the meeting was moved to Thursday of this week.

After several months with little or no action, the Kennedale City Council has a lot of on its plate Thursday night that have a lot of moving parts.

In work session, the council list the following -? none are actions items:

  • Interview candidates for appointment to city boards and commission for possible appointment in regular session with the possible appointments as follows:
    • BOA/BBA: Move Josh Altom from Place 8 (Alternate) to Place 2; Leave Place 8 (Alternate) vacant at this time; P&Z: Jadey James, Place 6; EDC: Stan Seat, Place 1; Ralph Grimes, Place 3; and Marsha Knox, Place 5.
    • ?PARKS: Josh Hayes, Place 6
  • Discuss budget amendments, water/sewer rate review/ reductions and city charter amendments.

In regular session the council will consider the following items:

  • Adoption of a resolution supporting grant application for a Justice Assistance Grant for rifle-resistant body armor
  • Review the 2017 racial profiling report as presented by KPD Chief Tommy Williams
  • Action on the certification of a citizens petition for a recall of Jan Joplin and Sandra Lee and the possible approval of a resolution calling for a special recall election on May 5, 2018.
  • Call for the general election for the election for City Council – Place 2, Place 4 and Mayor on May 5, 2018
  • Appoint the members of the Economic Development Board: VACANT, Place 1; Pat Turner, Vice President, Place 2; Ronald Whitley, Place 3; Robert Mundy, President, Place 4; VACANT, Place 5; Mark Yeary, Place 6; VACANT, Place 7.?
  • Appoint the members of the Parks Board: David Deaver, Chair, Place 1; Jeff Nevarez, Place 2; Michael Chandler, Place 3; Gary Swan, Place 4; Phil Wallace, Place 5; VACANT, Place 6; Carlos Chargoy, Place 7.
  • Appoint members and the Chair and Vice Chair of the Planning and Zoning Commission: Lary Adkins, Place 1, Chris Pugh, Place 2, Daniel Medina, Place 3, Tom Pirtle, Place 4 (current Vice Chair), Sheldon Gerron, Place 5, VACANT, Place 6, John Hivale, Place 7, Horace Young, Place 8 (Alternate), Kayla Hughes, Place 9 (Alternate).
