HS Science Department earns TEA Distinction Award

Earlier this month the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced special recognitions (distinctions) for campuses and school districts acrosss the state that have achieved top levels in one or more of seven specified areas. {{more:Read more … }}
 
Kennedale High School Departments has earned a TEA Distinction for Science.
 
The recognitions are awarded to campuses for outstanding academic achievement in the top quarter of the in its campus comparison group. Schools are grouped with 40 other cmpuses that are most similar on campus size, low grade/high grade, percent economically disadvantaged students, mobility rate, and percent of English language learners.
 
Performances ratings are based on results from TEA?s end of course biology exams, ACT national science exam, AP/IB science enrollment & test participation along with AP/IB science exam results plus daily attendance. No result in any area can be less than the top 3rd.
 
Last year?s science staff for Kennedale High School included Gia Bowens, George Griffin, Candice Hilton, Chris Reue, Michael Strange, Danny Wilcox, Kathryn McBroom and Steve Young. Dustin May has joined the KHS Science Department this year.

Overall, Kennedale ISD met standards which currently is the top level of TEA accountability.
