Wildcat Band earns another trip to State

The Kennedale High School Band keeps setting the bar higher and higher for future Wildcat bands. Last week they won another trip to the UIL State Marching Band Finals. {{more:Read more …}} This is their 6th trip in as many tries and a new record.
 
?After placing 2nd for the day at the UIL Area D Championships, the Wildcat Band is returning to the Texas State Marching Band Championships for the 6th consecutive time,? Director of Bands Erol Oktay announced on the school website. He added that, ?The Wildcat Band will perform in the morning on Monday November 7th at the Alamodome in San Antonio.?
 
 
In the UIL Area competition, the Wildcats placed 3rd in the semifinals with the top 10 advancing to the finals. In the finals, Kennedale finished in 2nd place, just 2 points behind Springtown.

Other 4A bands advancing in order of finish at area competition are: Area A – Pecos, Greenwood, Wylie. Area B ? Princeton, Argyle, Canton, Wills Points. Area C ? North Lamar, Spring Hill, Little Cypress-Maruiceville, Paris, Atlanta. Area D ? Stephenville, Kennedale, Fredericksberg, China Springs, Castleberry. Area E ? Port Isabel, La Feria, RGC Grulla, Hidalgo, Rio Hondo, Crystal City.
 

 
State winners usually come from the ranks of the top two finishers in each area contest. The top finishers in the 4A in 2014 [contest is held every other year], will be returning again this year. The top five in 2014, in order of finish, were Argyle, North Lamar, Princeton, Grulla and Kennedale.
 
The Marching Wildcats earned Best in Class in two earlier marching contest and received all 1st in the regional competition.
