Over thirty odd years ago, James Teague took a teaching and coaching job at Kennedale Junior High and began an era that would span the beginnings of a struggling baseball program in Kennedale to a regional power and an eventual state championship.

Being a head coach of any sports will instantly gain you both admirers and critics. Everyone who ever played the game, or watched it, has an opinion and they are quick to let you know it. {{more}}In baseball, it’s the starting lineup, it?s the rotation, it?s the bunt, it?s the squeeze play, it?s the steal, it’s small ball, etc, etc., etc.
 
For many coaches surviving just a few years as a head coach at one school is too much. Jet Teague was head coach for 30.
 
His teams won 748 games, earned 13 district championships, made 19 playoff appearances, captured 14 bi-district championships, 10 area titles, 8 regional quarter finals, 2 regional semifinals, one regional final, one state championship (2011) and produced 28 all-state players.

Monday, September 22, his admirers will gather to give him a hug, a huge thank you and to wish him well.
 
Members of the Kennedale High School faculty are sponsoring the event. It is billed as a small way to honor him for his immeasurable contribution to the students, to the athletes and to his fellow educators.
 
Baseball fans, friends, former students/athletes, colleagues and admirers are all invited.
 
The come and go celebration last from 6:30 -8:30 p.m. in the Kennedale High School Cafeteria at 901 Wildcat Way, Kennedale, Texas 76060.
