Yes, for those who have notice activity around the old Kenneth?s True Pit Barbeque restaurant out on Dick Price Road, the smell of bbq will again flood the air. In an article titled “New BBQ on a Kennedale backroad will feature Austin pitmasters” Kennedy tells of the tale.

This time, it will be called Goldee?s and there will be three Arlington friends behind the kitchen doors preparing the meats. Bud Kennedy calls them ?experienced Austin pit hands? returning home to open a new restaurant.

The three friends are Dylan Taylor, Lane Milne and Jonny White who have worked at Austin restaurants like La Barbecue, Terry Black?s and Micklethwait Craft Meats.

Kennedy was told that they were looking for a location in the Dallas area when a relative drove down a backroad past the old Kenneth?s, built in 1968 and told them about it.

Kenneth?s True Pit Barbeque, located at 4645 Dick Price Road, was open in the 1980s and ?90s by the late Kenneth Middleton. He served lunch and prepared take home orders for customers including his special smoked turkeys, housemade sausage and chili.

Goldee?s is expected to open in June.
