JAA Students Excel in Writing Competition with 1st place

The students from James

Arthur Intermediate School won first place in the Fifth Grade category in the 2015 Authors of Class Writing Competition sponsored by the Bill Martin Jr. Memorial Symposium Committee and the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, Texas A&M University at Commerce.

 
After receiving their certificates, the JAA authors watched as nationally renowned illustrator Floyd Webber demonstrated his unique techniques. The girls were able to get Mr. Webber to sign two James Arthur library books that he had illustrated. These can be seen in the school library.
 
The student authors? book, Rainbow Walk, will be on display in the Arthur Intermediate’s trophy case. The families of the girls, as well as teachers, Ms. Harwell and Mrs. Vaughn, enjoyed celebrating with the students at the event in Mesquite.
