KHS Wildcat Band competes in Corpus Christi – announces 15/16 Leadership Corps

Seventy-five members of the Kennedale High School Wildcat Band recently traveled to Corpus Christi, TX, to compete in the Buccaneer Classic Music Festival.
 
The Wildcat Bands brought back trophies for Division 2 and Division 1 ratings, and a trophy for the Outstanding Performance of the Day. {{more}}
 
In Corpus, the band visited the historic World War II Aircraft Carrier ? The USS Lexington. The band also got a chance to go to the beach on North Mustang Island and the Schlitterbahn Waterpark in New Braunfels, TX. The trip was paid for by Wildcat band members.

KHS Wildcat Marching Band’s Leadership Corps has been announced for 2015-16.

  • Head Drum Major: Vicky Huggins,
  • Assistant Drum Majors: Anna Llamas, and Ileana Gamillo
  • Color Guard Captain: Alicia Dailey
  • Drumline Captain: Kendall Barnes
  • Squad Leaders: Cierra Bentley, Jenna Johnson, Noet Avila,

    Dajia Simmons, Gabriela Barbosa, Kat Daugherty, Christian Stites, Jillian

    Melbourne.

It has been a year of records for the high school program

under the direction of Erol Oktay and Assistant Director DiMitri Higginbotham. A few of the accomplishments this

year:

  • UIL?s highest award for band,

    the UIL Sweepstakes Award, for the 6th straight year

  • 21 members advanced to state level completion, one member

    earned a place on the all-state band, 25 made all-region

  • 5th best band in

    state 4A marching competition, achieving the highest rating of any KHS Band in school history.
