Having just finished a highly successful production of RADIUM GIRLS, by D.W. Gregory, theatre students are now getting ready for the Texas Thespians State Festival, in Dallas, November 20-23.

Each year members of Kennedale high School?s Thespian Troupe #5534 and Junior Thespians from Kennedale Junior high attend this festival. It provides an excellent educational opportunity for theatre students from all over the state of Texas. {{more}}Students attending participate in theatre workshops; watch full-length and short plays; see musicals; audition in competition and for scholarships; and network with many other high school theatre participants.

This year Kennedale?s Troupe will have a special role at festival accompanying KHS senior, Vanessa Stahl who was elected to the Texas Thespians Student State Board during last year?s activities. As a board member she is one of nine elected from around the state who are responsible for planning the 2013 event, called ?Seize the Day, Seize the Stage, Live your Dream!?

Troupe #5534 members will be given specific duties as assigned by the Student State Board and help with setting up and tearing down the three day event. Other KHS students attending will include: Morgan Biscoe, Biancca Colette, Emily Crabtree, Alicia Dailey, Carter Dickey, Shelby Flowers, Ben Garcia, Hailey Green, Cuillin Chastain-Howley, Trace Hughes, Cameron Johnson, Cody Kovar, Chris LaPorte, Grant Malone, Kayla Marshall, Kennedy Muzyka, Brandi Shelton, Nick Swille, Alison Villaire, Tyler Ward and Peyton Wilder.

Also, currently in rehearsal is the Kennedale High School Thespian production of Tom Griffin?s play, THE BOYS NEXT DOOR.

This funny yet very touching play provides a glimpse into the lives of four mentally-disabled men who live in a group home under the watchful eye of a sincere but increasingly ?burned out? social worker. It is marked by the compassion with which it peers into the world of its handicapped protagonists played by KHS students ? Grant Malone, Tyler Ward, Gage Tijerina and Terrance Benard.

Other cast members include Shelby Flowers, Ben Garcia, Hailey Green, Cody Kovar, William Melbourne, Kennedy Muzyka, Danielle Quaye and Alison Villaire. The show is directed by KHS seniors Vanessa Stahl and Nick Swille.

Performance dates are set for December 13, 14 and 15, in Wildcat Auditorium at the High School.
