Alexis Wheeler, a freshman at Kennedale High School recently competed for Kennedale High at the UIL State Swim and Diving competition in Austin and came away with a top 20 finish. {{more: continue …}}

Students are allowed by UIL rules to represent their home campus even if the school does not offer the sport in which they are competing. Kennedale ISD does not offer competitive swimming but has and does sponsor any student who wishes to compete.?

Several years ago it was KHS student Blake Bunnell. He like Alexis qualified for state in his freshman year and then went on to medal his junior and senior year.

In her first state meet, Alexis finished 18th out of 24 in the 100 fly prelims on Friday, which was just two off the top 16 who made the finals on Saturday.?

For Alexis, it represented her first state appearance and a new personal best with a time of 1:00.48. Results are posted on the UIL? website here.
