KJHS Theatre Students at the State Thespian Festival

Sixteen of Kennedale?s Junior High School Advanced Theatre students travelled to Dallas to attend the Texas State Thespian Festival from November 20th through the 22nd. {{more}}
 
This was the thirteenth consecutive state festival attended, the only junior high in the state to attend this many state festival in a row.
 
The students watched several full-length and one-act performances while in Dallas, including the Musical ?The Suessification of Romeo and Juliet? and ?Memphis,? the musical.
 
Students also participated in many workshops ranging from improvisation, acting techniques, various styles of dance, and warm up and relaxation strategies to fantasy make up, costume design, stage combat, and robotic lighting.
 
While enjoying the many quality shows and attending the theatre workshops was exciting for them, the students also presented their own workshop sessions on Thursday to other middle school students from all over the state.
 
The ?Community Games? workshop as presented by the KJHS students taught other students getting-to-know-you exercises, team/ensemble-building games and community building activities.
 
Christian Scott is the Kennedale Junior High School theater teacher and sponsor for the Kennedale Junior High Thespian Club.
