The Kennedale Police Department was kept busy with and unusually high number of incidents reports (19) for the one week period beginning March 11 through March 17, 2018. This was more than double the usual number. {{more: continue …}}

These reports and others were in addition to on-going investigations. These do not include calls where no report was written. Some of the offenses, after further investigation, may have been deemed unfounded.

3/11 – Theft $2,500 to $30,000 – S. Dick Price Road: At 12:50 p.m. a victim reported that he kept his 1997 Dodge truck parked at a remote location while he was working on a contract job. The vehicle was at the location for approximately two weeks. When the victim went to retrieve his vehicle it was missing. The victim believes that his girlfriend may have taken the truck after an argument that they had. She did not have permission to take the vehicle.

3/12 – Duty on Striking Unattended Vehicle – Ruth Drive: At 1:45 a.m. officers responded to a hit and run accident. A parked vehicle had been struck and knocked into a brick mailbox next door. Evidence at the scene indicated that two cars parked at the curb were struck by a silver Nissan. One parked car pushed the second into the mailbox. The Nissan fled the scene before witnesses could get outside.

3/12 – Abandoned/ Found Property – 400 block of Municipal Drive: At 2:11 p.m. an officer responded to a found property call at the police station. On arrival the officer observed a Samsung cell phone lying on the front counter but the reporting person had left. The phone was placed in evidence for safekeeping.

3/12 – Burglary – W. 5th Street: At 6:04 p.m. an officer responded to a burglary report. A victim reported that her home had been entered illegally through an unsecured back door. Unknown person(s) removed electronics and prescription medications. The victim was able to provide a possible suspect in the offense.

3/13 – Application for Mental Detention and Observation – W. Kennedale Parkway: At 1:10 a.m. an officer observed a male walking in the traffic lanes of Kennedale Parkway. The male requested medical attention due to being hit by a truck thirty minutes earlier. The male had been handled by Forest Hill police the day before because he was walking near the traffic lanes of I-20. He had been taken to a residence in Kennedale but had caused a disturbance that police were required to respond to. Medics cleared the male and stated that he did not have any injuries to indicate being struck by a car. The male requested to be taken to a relative?s residence at Sun Valley and 820. Upon arrival, the resident stated that the male was unknown to him. After contacting MHMR it was determined that based on the totality of the circumstances from the multiple police contacts, the male was not able to care for himself. He was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency detention and evaluation.

3/13 ? Vehicle Burglary – Greenfield Court: At 11:30 a.m. a victim reported that her 2007 Dodge was illegally entered overnight. Unknown person(s) removed an ID badge and clothes. The owner stated that the vehicle was locked and alarmed but no forced entry could be found. It is unknown how entry was made.

3/13 – Fraud Use/ Possession Identifying Information – Quintessa Avenue: At 6:48 p.m. a victim reported that an unknown person had used her information to file a fraudulent tax return. The victim had received a notice in the mail from the IRS asking her to contact them and verify her identification. She did so and filed an identity theft complaint with them. The victim also filled out an identity theft packet with the police department.

3/14 – Possession Control Substance -? Mansfield Highway: At 3:30 a.m. an officer on patrol observed a group of people in a front yard. As the officer approached the residence the group ran into the home. The officer checked the registration numbers of the vehicles in front of the residence and found one with multiple felony arrest warrants for a female. The officer staged and began watching the vehicles. At 5:25 a.m. a white Dodge truck pulled up and parked in the street. The driver went into the residence and returned to the truck a short time later. The officer followed the vehicle and stopped it for a traffic violation at Kennedale Parkway and I-20. Inside the truck was a male driver with a female passenger. The officer recognized that female as the person with the felony arrest warrants and immediately took her into custody. Three warrants were confirmed for her: 1) Possession of Controlled Substance, 2) Possession of Marijuana, and 3) Possession of Heroin. No bond was set on any of the warrants. Upon contacting the driver, who seemed agitated, the officers requested him to exit the truck. He refused at first but finally did exit. As he got out of the vehicle the driver attempted to take something from his pocket. It turned out to be methamphetamine. The driver was taken into custody for multiple grams of methamphetamine. Both arrestees were transported to jail for booking.

3/16 – Accident Involving Damage to Vehicle Under $200 – W. Kennedale Parkway: At 2:04 p.m. a victim reported that his U-Haul rental truck tail light had been broken out by a male driving a wrecker. The accident occurred on a parking lot of a salvage yard. The victim claimed that the wrecker driver got out and an argument ensued before the wrecker driver left. The wrecker driver was contacted and stated that he had cleared the U-Haul when it backed into his vehicle. He attempted to give his information to the other driver but it was refused because the other driver wanted to argue. Based on the fact that the other driver was argumentative, the wrecker driver left the scene.

3/15 – Sexual Assault -? At 3:50 p.m. an officer responded to a sexual assault complaint at a local hospital. An adult female reported that three days earlier she had been sexually assaulted by a known suspect. The suspect, a male, and the victim have been living together since January. The victim reported that on 03/11/2018 she and her roommate were at home. After some drug use the male began to sexually assault the victim. A sexual assault exam was conducted by the hospital staff. The case remains under investigation.

3/14 – Incident – North Road: At 9:54 p.m. an officer responded to a welfare concern. A neighbor stated that a child was crying and no one was answering the door. A relative who lived nearby stated that she believed the resident could be having a medical emergency. The door was forced open and the resident was found to be okay.

3/15 – Fail to Identify Fugitive – S. New Hope Road: At 1:40 a.m. an officer observed a male and female asleep in the park pavilion on New Hope Road. Both subjects stated that they did not have any identification on them. The male stated that his identification was in his car a short distance away but then stated that it wasn?t in the vehicle. Based on his verbal identification to the officer a parole violation warrant was discovered for a male with a similar name. The male stated that he did not know his driver?s license or social security numbers. The male did have tattoos that were listed in the warrant and was detained for further investigation. A search of the vehicle revealed the male?s wallet with identification. He had given a false identification to the officer, possibly in order to avoid being arrested for the warrant. He was transported to jail for booking.

3/15 – Criminal Mischief $750 to $2,500 – North Road: At 10:29 a.m. a victim reported that her rental vehicle had been damaged overnight. The vehicle, which was parked outside, had pry marks on the driver and left passenger door. Damage was estimated at $1,000.00. Entry was not made into the vehicle.

3/15 – Criminal Mischief $100 to $750 – Oak Crest Dr. E.: At 8:04 a.m. a victim reported that unknown person(s) damaged his front door by breaking the glass. The glass was shattered by a small object, possibly a rock.

3/15 – Incident – North Road: At 1:29 p.m. a female made a complaint that a family member has been harassing her by making false statements to friends and relatives.

3/15 – Possession Drug Paraphernalia – N. Little School Road: At 3:02 p.m. an officer responded to a male and female arguing in front of a business. On arrival the pair were located and interviewed by officers. A narcotics spoon and syringe were found in the vehicle lying in plain view. No narcotics were located. The items were taken as evidence and the male was charged with the paraphernalia. He was cited and released. Also in the vehicle were multiple identification cards for several persons, male and female. None of the persons could be contacted and all items were seized until owners can be located.

3/16 – Incident – Pine Meadow Drive: At 9:10 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A male suspect had come to the location in order to speak with his wife. The wife was at the location, which is a friend?s residence, to get away from the suspect. The suspect had kicked in the front door during the disturbance and had thrown a bicycle toward his wife?s black Tahoe in the driveway. He appeared to be violent, which caused a male neighbor to intercede with his firearm to protect the occupants of the residence. The suspect was found to have a total of twenty-five (25) arrest warrants out of multiple jurisdictions and was arrested. He was transported to jail for booking. The owner of the residence did not want to prosecute for the front door damage.

3/17 – False Alarm or Report – W. 5th Street: At 6:14 p.m. officers responded to a call of a person with a gun. On arrival it was determined that the person listed had been cleaning firearms in his garage but that there was no problems that he was aware of.

3/17 – Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) – At 11:20 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A married male and female were arguing when the female threw a shoe, striking the male in the face. The male exhibited marks consistent with his version of events. The female was arrested for the assault and was transported to jail for booking.
