Kennedale volleyball battles 6A Mansfield in 3-1 loss

Kennedale (17-6) took on another state ranked upper division team last Tuesday and was tagged with their second straight loss but it was not without a fight. {{more: continue …}}
Kennedale, a young team still developing, is currently ranked #20 in the state in Class 4A by TGCA. The Lady Kats are 17-6, against 5A and 6A teams save one, a 2-0 win over 4A Snyder. Kennedale has one senior, four juniors and six sophomores that play on a consistent basis.
Mansfield (24-7) came into the game with Kennedale ranked #3 in area schools by dfwVarsity, ranked #12 in MaxPreps statewide and #21 in 6A across the state by Texas Girls Coaching Association (TGCA).? Mansfield HS has a balanced team of five seniors, 4 juniors and two sophomores that play regularly.?
Kennedale has now faced two straight state ranked teams. Last week Kennedale lost to 5A Burleson (21-4). Burleson is currently ranked 4th in their state division by TGCA and 5th by MaxPreps.
?Strong showing Tuesday …
On Tuesday night, against the Lady Tigers, Kennedale gave a strong showing overall. In the first set, the Kats lost 25-18 but in the second set Kennedale forced the Tigers to win by extra points 26-24. In the third set, the Kats won a hard fought 27-25 contest. Mansfield then re-asserted their earlier dominance and took the fourth and final set, 25-15.
Kennedale takes on Mansfield Legacy (4-14) at Legacy this Friday night, September 6, with varsity game set for 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Kats have one game next week versus 5A Boswell (22-10) on Tuesday, September 10 before district play begins Friday, September 13. Boswell is ranked #19 in Class 5A by TGCA.
