Lady Kat/Wildcat Track headed to Region Championship in Lubbock

The Kennedale Wildcat track team won the 7-4A Championship this year while the Lady Kats took second place at the district meet held in Godley April 16-17. {{more}}
 
Last week at the the 7-8 4A Area Track meet held April 22-23 in Springtown both the Lady Kats and the Wildcats finished in 2nd place (after having winning relay teams disqualified). But Kennedale qualified at least 20 for the the Region 1 Championship this weekend.

At the Area meet held at Springtown, in the women?s division Alvarado finished first with 135 points, ahead of second-place Kennedale, which had 116 points. In the men?s division, Springtown won the title with 127 points, followed by the Wildcats at 126 points and Alvarado in third with 122 points. The Kennedale Wildcat 4×400 set an area record.
 
The area meet paired the top four competitors from each district meet. The top four finishers at the area meet qualified for the Class 4A Region I championships May 1-2 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. The top two competitors at regionals will advance to the UIL Class 4A state championship May 15-16 in Austin.

  • Musheleus (Lucy) Benson 3rd in the 400m (1:01:32)
  • Trezur Herford 3rd in the 300m hurdles (49.39)
  • Madison Moss 2nd in high jump (4-10.0)
  • Jasmyn Poe 1st in triple jump (35-01.25)
