There are four district games left for the Kats with a very big game tonight against Mineral Wells. Kennedale can forge a tie or better with Mineral Well but they need the win tonight and some help down the line.
 

Tonight?s game starts at 6:30 at home.

 
In recent action and playing 3 of 4 games against the bottom half of the district, Kennedale recorded two shutouts while scoring 60 runs and allowing just 9 against.

April 4 (A) Benbrook vs Kennedale 18-0 (W)
  • It only took three innings for Jamie Franks to knock out Benbrook, allowing just 3 hits and no runs while the bats were flying for Kennedale in an 18-0 blowout Tuesday evening.
  • Kennedale scored three runs in the 1st but blew up home plate in the 2nd with 12 runs, adding another 3 in the 3rd. Nine different Kats had hits with 4 doubles, 2 triples and one homerun.
  • Megan Calhoun went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs off a single, a double and a triple. Jamie Franks went 3 for 2 with a double and a triple and 3 RBIs. Others getting multiple hits were Mary Grace Howard (3/2, 2 RBIs with a double and a homerun) and Gabryele Slider (2/2 and a RBI). Also, getting hits were Jenna Webb, Alexa Neifert, Alyssa Bradberry and Josie Mensing.
April 1 (H) Springtown vs Kennedale 7-4 (W)
  • It was an April Fool?s surprise for Springtown last Friday when Kennedale, playing at home, came from behind in the 6th with to beat the Lady Pojos. Springtown had beaten the LadyKats in the first game of the 2 game series on March 7 by a score of 8-7.
  • In the return game, Kennedale spotted the Pojos 3 runs in the top of the third before getting on the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning with one run. Gabryelle Slider got the run after reaching on an error by Springtown and then proceeded to steal 2nd and after advancing to 3rd, stole home on a 1-0 count.
  • But, it wasn?t until the bottom of the 6th that the sparks begin to fly. After suffering a strikeout with the first batter, Kennedale came back in order to get a homerun (Alyssa McElvany), a walk (Josie Mensing), three singles (Gabyrele Slider, Jenna Webb, Jamie Franks), a walk (Alexa Neifert), a double (Mary Grace Howard) and a single (Megan Calhoun). This made the score 7-4.

    Jamie Franks closed out the game in the top of the 7th by getting 3 groundouts while allowing two singles but no runs. For the game Franks allowed 4 runs on 10 hits including 1 HR, striking out 6 and walking 1.

  • In hitting, Franks went 3 for 2 in the game. Also getting hits were Jenna Webb, Mary Grace Howard, Megan Calhoun, Alyssa Bradberry, Ashley McElvany and Gabryele Slider.
  • In six innings at bat Kennedale finished with 7 runs on 8 hits, walked 6 times, struck out 4 times and benefited from 6 errors by Springtown.

March 31 (H) Lake Worth vs Kennedale 17-5 (W)

  • In a another blowout victory for the LadyKats, Kennedale jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first, added five in the 2nd and another five in the 4th to win the game in five innings of play.
  • Jamie Franks got the win in 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits, striking out 8, walking 1 while recording 3 errors.
  • Kennedale mustered 15 hits, scoring 17 times while getting 2 homeruns, a triple and 3 doubles.
  • Nine Kats got hits with Jenna Webb leading with 3 hits on 4 at bats including a home run, Jamie Franks went 2/2. Mary Grace Howard hit a triple and walked 3 times. Alyssa Bradberry had 3 hits in 4 attempts including a homerun and a double. Megan Calhoun recorded 3 RBIs hit a double. Alexa Neifert had two hits including a double. Gabryele Slider had 2 hits on 3 attemps while Josie Mensing and Victoria Esson each recorded a hit.

March 21 (A) Diamond Hill-Jarvis vs Kennedale 18-0 (W)

  • Kennedale started this 4-0 stretch with a resounding win over a struggling Diamond Hill team by a score of 18-0 in just three innings of play. In the game Kennedale had 13 hits including a 2 run homerun, a triple and two doubles while recording a single error.
  • For Kennedale, Jamie Franks recorded the no hitter, throwing just 30 pitches with 22 for strikes while getting 4 strikeouts walking no one and getting 5 groundout/flyouts to complete the shutout. Diamond Hill allowed 18 hits, walked 12 and struck out none. Twelve different Kats got on base either with a hit and/or a walk.
  • Mary Grace Howard had the 2-run homerun along with a double, earning 4 RBIs for the game. Alexa Neifert went 3 for 3 including a double to get 3 RBIs. Ashley McElvany was 2/2 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Josie Mensing was 2 for 2. Megan Calhoun was 3/2 with 2 RBIs. Other getting hits included Camryn Johnson and Jamie Franks.
