Lady Kats win 3rd straight district title

The #14 MaxPreps ranked Kennedale Lady Kats volleyball team (22-17, 11-1) secured their third straight district title earlier this week in a 3-1 win over Castleberry. {{more:Read more…}}
 
In the final regular season game Tuesday evening against Castleberry (8-20), Kennedale won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-13. Castleberry (8-20) came back to win the third set 25-27 but the Kats secured the win in the fourth set 25-23. Top performers for the Lady Kats were Emma Riffe (Sr) with 12 kills; Grace Guadagnolo (So) 4 aces, 24 digs and 22 recepts; Raeley Crosley (Jr) 5 blocks, 7 kills and 20 recepts; Noah Dixon (Jr) 25 digs and 3 blocks; Jodie Dixon (Sr) 20 asst and 2 aces.
 
The win on Tuesday meant that the Kats made a clean sweep of their district opponents in the second round of district play.
 
Last Friday, Kennedale defeated Mineral Wells 3-0 in a road match, 25-18, 25-14 and 25-13. Top performers for the Kats included Raeley Crosely (Jr) 6 kills, 8 digs, 12 recepts and 6 blocks; Emma Riffe (Sr) 5 kills; Bethany Klinkenberg (Sr) 5 kills, 2 aces; Ranaja Taylor (Sr) 5 kills; Jodi Dixon (Sr) 4 aces and 13 asst; Grace Guadagnolo (So) 2 aces and 8 digs; Jasmine Ali (Sr) 4 block; Noah Dixon (Jr) 9 digs and 10 recepts; and, Lillian Rychlik (Fr) 11 asst.
 
The Lady Kats will have a one game playoff against their district co-champion, Springtown (25-7, 11-1) at a neutral site at Lake Worth High School, this afternoon with the game time scheduled for 5 p.m. Springtown and Kennedale split district matches this year with Springtown winning the first match 3-0 at Springtown and Kennedale winning the second round match 3-0 at home.
 
The game will determine which bracket the teams will be entered in for the playoffs which start next week.
