Michener, a 2013 graduate of KHS, was a double threat for the Wildcats as a district MVP quarterback for Richard Barrett and as an All-State shortstop for Jet Teague.

He went on to play for Weatherford College where he was named a 1st team All-Conference player in his second year, leading the conference with an on-base percentage (.517).

Taking his game to Stephen F Austin the following year, Zak was named the Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year. His senior year, he was named SFA Male Athlete of the Year. Michener led the team in hits, RBIs, runs scored, doubles, home runs and slugging percentages. Ranked 4th in the conference in sacrifice flies, fifth in RBI, eighth in home runs, 10th in total bases and 12 in both hits and slugging percentages.

He is the son of David and Stephanie Michener of Kennedale who also celebrated their youngest son?s (Luke) graduation from Kennedale High School this spring.

Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) is a public university located in Nacogdoches, Texas, United States.
