?It?s Alvarado,? said Wildcat Head Coach Richard Barrett. ?They are playing us and we are going to get their best shot. But, they know that we are going to give them our best shot.? {{more:Read more…}}

Separated by just 25 miles, Alvarado has been Kennedale?s most consistent opponent over the years. This will be the 35th time that the Maxpreps #16 Indians (1-1) and the AP #7 Wildcats (1-0) have lined up against each other and more often than not they have played in the same district. This year they have split ways and Kennedale now plays in District 5/4A while Alvarado travels east and plays in District 6/4A. But, they decided to keep the series going.

could have found someone a little easier …

?We want to play against good people in non-district,? Alvarado Coach Jeff Dixon told A.J. Crisp of the Cleburne Times Review. ?And there?s not anybody better than Kennedale, plus on top of that, it?s become a rivalry. It?s a great game for our communities and for our school. expect to see some passing with the running game …

Quarterback Brayden Ramsey (Sr) is returning, so expect to see some passing mixed in with the running game. Last year, he had 903 yards in passing and he has 188 yard so far this year. Running back Blake Henderson (Jr) leads the running game with 234 yards (5.1 av). He is followed by Jacob Shockley (Jr) who has 159 yards (6.9 av). MLB Drake Bernal (Sr) who led the team last year in tackles with 83, leads again with 13. He is followed closely behind by LB Cannon Arnold (Jr) with 11 solo tackles.

they are a formidable opponent …

?We are going to do, what we do,? said Barrett. ?We know that it works and we can be successful at doing it. We just have to go out and execute. I think that is what they do [Alvarado]. Line up and do the same thing over and over and make you stop them.”

“They have a nose tackle that is really, really good,” Barrett went on to add. “They got linebackers that are good. Their offensive line is always very big and physical. So when you combine all those things ? to say that they are a formidable opponent is an understatement.?

?The truth of the matter, it shouldn?t have been close,” said Barrett. ?When you have 450 yards of offense and 27 first downs and you have 32 minutes of possession out of 48 minutes of the game and you only score 19 points We should have been 3 touchdowns ahead. Much to their credit, they didn?t let that happen.”

“What stood out in my mine was inconsistency. We just didn?t finish. I think that is due to inconsistency. We really worked on that this week.”

Barrett added, ?I will say that a team that is already played [Terrell] a game and this is your first time, they have an advantage. I think that we will be better this Friday [because we have played a game]. Now if that turns into a win, who knows. I think we will be better equipped and better prepared.?
